Back at It
Curated by Patrick Dohan
This jazz fusion album was inspired by the amalgamation of culture, art, and music in Oakland, CA. While it has some nods to Oakland funk greats like Tower of Power, it was also heavily influenced by musicians like John Scofield, Stanley Clarke, and Jaco Pastorius—the latter two driving much of the bass-forward nature of the album, and my own playing style. I am, first and foremost, a bass player, as evident in much of my compositional style and process. Then I fill in the rest, having played all the other instrumentation on this record.
